The EG series is the standard building block: a double-acting single-rod piston cylinder designed for structural simplicity, reliable operation, straightforward assembly and disassembly and ease of maintenance, with several connecting modes available and optional cushioning devices at either or both ends. The rod end can be connected by male thread, which suits push-only or guided loads, or by an earring (clevis) connection, which suits loads that swing through an arc during the stroke. Welded construction gives a more compact and robust body for mobile equipment, while tie-rod construction can be dismantled on the machine for resealing and suits industrial plant where downtime is expensive. Bore, stroke, mounting style, port size and position, rod end connection, cushioning and rod coating are all produced to the customer's drawing rather than selected from a catalogue, because most hydraulic cylinder applications are defined by the machine geometry.
